Prairie People Work Days Join the many concerned citizens at our Prairie People Workdays. Offered by the Forest Preserve District of Will County, these workdays are an opportunity for you to help restore natural areas within the county. Seasonal activities may include: seed collecting, brush removal, prairie planting, garbage pickup, and more. Workdays are held on weekends from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Each workday will have a Forest Preserve representative to coordinate the morning's activities. Tools, gloves, and water are provided. Please dress for outdoor work. Participants may also want to pack a snack. Groups of 10 or more are asked to preregister so that there are enough tools. (Youth groups please have one adult/every five children.) To preregister or for more information, call the Forest Preserve District of Will County at 815-727-8700. Trail Sentinels and Volunteers Interested individuals are welcome to become trail sentinels as part of the Forest Preserves volunteer program. These volunteers work with the Forest Preserve police department making sure that the trails remain enjoyable for all to use. Volunteers can bike, walk, in-line skate, or cross-country ski along the trail to assist visitors as needed.
